the studio
Abitalia has designed beautiful homes since 2007. Our studio occupies a beautiful Victorian warehouse in Poole that we have lovingly designed and restored. We believe it reflects who we are and how we approach our projects. We are known for our passion and attention to detail, and this is reflected throughout our design studio and work.
Our projects are as diverse as our clients. Our design style can be characterised by details. We design as if it’s our own and we install as if it’s our own. We believe this approach has led clients to become long term clients and our studio to have a fine reputation.
Frequently asked questions
Our projects vary from ‘supply only’ to complete project design and management. We have listed some of the more frequently asked questions
-
Our typical design fees are 10% of the schedule value and increase to 15% when providing project management.
-
No. We understand that the cost of something is a simple comparison to make when choosing a product or service. We also understand good design may look expensive.
We will always maintain the best cost vs quality. By isolating the ‘good’ level (supply only) from ‘better’, clients can easily compare our products with other suppliers. But where we excel is the detail and design. This has a value. If cost is the sole factor in your decision making process, we may not be the studio for you.
-
With the level of support we provide our clients, we tend to work within Dorset and Hampshire. Occasionally a special project or an existing client, has led us to work further afield, even internationally.
-
We work with two Italian brands with shared and unique characteristics. Both are made in Italy with a strong sense of design. Arredo3 is our entry product which is very competitive against UK high street brands, whereas Zampieri kitchens are a more tailored product. An entry kitchen would be circa £30,000, but in general our kitchen project value is closer to £75,000+

Around the time Abitalia opened its Dorset office, the tile industry made three technical advancements: digital printing, large format and thinner slab production. Porcelain has always featured in our projects, but with the introduction of a beautiful and technical material, the possibilities are endless.
PietraCasa belong to a small group who design, supply and install large format for bespoke furniture and projects.

project. 499
A complete renovation of an Edwardian flat in Westbourne, Bournemouth. A design and build contract with structural work to maximise the floor plan with bespoke furniture throughout.
Every detail was designed and installed by our team and carefully selected subcontractors. Using local craftsmen to restore the original features such as the sash windows, cornice and joinery.
This project illustrates our ability to go beyond the remit of an interior designer and span the void between architect and main contractor.

A residential new build project in collaboration with ID Lab in Poole Dorset. The Zampieri Segni kitchen was realised in a rare Antolini marble that captures the essence of the Jurassic Coast.
This natural theme continued into the bathrooms, en suites and home spa using large format Sensi Fossil porcelain from Florim. Natural textures were also used to create the fireplace hearth with Inalco Mdi. The holographic fire was customised to our design with integrated AV furniture and a bespoke waterjet speaker cover.
Abitalia were also commissioned to design and install the bespoke wardrobes throughout the project.

project. 460
A new build project in Canford Cliffs, Poole. The classical architecture was offset by the contemporary interior. This project allowed our design studio to showcase large format porcelain being used as the primary kitchen material, the bespoke dining table top, fireplace hearth, fabricated washbasin and en suite tiles.
Working with the main contractor, we were able to implement many technical details where the fabric of the building integrated seamlessly into the furniture.
