Abitalia is a creative team of architects and designers
“It all begins with an idea. For us it was to bring Italian excellence — the energy, craft and passion — into contemporary interior architecture.”
Abitalia South Coast is a contemporary interior design studio and furniture showroom in Poole, Dorset, serving clients across Dorset, Hampshire and the South Coast. Our studio presents a curated collection of Italian kitchens, luxury furniture and contemporary interiors, bringing together architecture, design and craftsmanship.
The name Abitalia is derived from two Italian words, abitare and Italia — to dwell or inhabit like the Italians. The idea was to capture the strong sense of design and culture that defines Italian living and apply it to the spaces we inhabit.
Founded in 2007, Abitalia developed a reputation for its passion for design and attention to detail. From the original design studio in Cheltenham, a South Coast presence was established in 2012.
In 2024 the studio moved to its current home — a carefully restored 3,000 sq ft Victorian warehouse in Poole. Inspired by the Boffi Via Solferino showroom in Milan, the space explores the relationship between furniture and architecture, presenting contemporary Italian design in a calm and considered environment.
Today Abitalia continues to work with private clients, developers and architects, delivering contemporary residential projects across the South Coast.
How we work
We have simplified designing the interior of your home. Whether embarking on a new build or renovation, we tailor our involvement to your needs. From supply only, to complete project management and delivery.
Our involvement can be defined by Essential, Signature and Bespoke. While the standard of our design and furniture maintain the same high standard, we understand clients will have different requirements.
We believe in transparency and respect. We look to form lasting relationships where we work with you.
-
Essential provides clear design direction and specification for key interior elements. It suits smaller projects or clients seeking design guidance and access to our curated supplier network through a focused, efficient process.
The service includes concept design, spatial layouts and core specifications, together with procurement and installation.
-
Signature is the most common way clients work with us and is designed for full-home projects, new builds and major renovations.
The service includes detailed design development across spatial planning, lighting, fitted furniture, joinery and finishes, together with a comprehensive technical drawing package to support the build process.
Furniture, lighting and interior elements are specified, supplied and installed through our trusted partners.
-
Our Bespoke service suits larger homes and projects requiring more detailed design development. Through custom detailing, specialist collaboration and an evolving design process, we create unique interiors closely aligned with the home’s architecture.
Our professional team delivers the project with dedicated project management and installation by our in-house specialists, carefully considering every detail. Design and project management fees apply.
-
Alongside our design-led work, Abitalia provides a dedicated supply service for architects, developers and private clients seeking quality interior products without our full design service.
Our European supplier network covers tiles, sanitaryware, kitchens, wardrobes, lighting and fitted joinery. Our team manages pricing, lead times and delivery, with installation where required.

Luxury Interior Design in Sandbanks
Abitalia South Coast is a contemporary interior design studio and furniture showroom based in Poole, Dorset, working with clients across Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs and the South Coast. We specialise in luxury kitchens, Italian furniture, bespoke wardrobes and carefully curated interiors designed for modern coastal homes.
This contemporary interior project in Dorset combined architectural materials with leading Italian design brands including CEA Design, Antonio Lupi and Rimadesio. The brief was to create a refined living environment with carefully integrated bathrooms, wardrobes and furniture systems, with a limited pallet of materials.
Storage and wardrobe systems were realised using Rimadesio, whose glass and aluminium systems allow spaces to remain light and minimal while maintaining exceptional functionality.
